Nature Immersion

A visit to the Misuku Hills in Malawi offers a rich experience centered around both natural beauty and  cultural immersion. This region is particularly appealing to nature enthusiasts, boasting exceptional  biodiversity within its Afromontane rainforests. The hills are home to over 100 endemic bird species, making it an internationally recognized Important Bird Area, and approximately 150 tree species, with a notable emergent trees like Aningeria adolfi-friederici and Entandrophragma excelsum. Furthermore, the Misuku Hills serve as a crucial habitat for several mammal species, including the Moloney's White-collared.

 Monkey and the only Malawian populations of the Silvered bat, Lord Derby's scaly-tailed squirrel, and the Tanzanian vlei rat. Visitors can explore the landscape through guided tours departing from the Ecotourism Centre, venture through coffee and banana plantations, and engage with the local culture, while birdwatchers can look out for unique species such as the Silvery-cheeked Hornbill, Blue Swallow, Modulatrix stictigula, Andropadus masukuensis, and Batis mixta.
